Pillowcase dresses and sunny days

We have had So much fun over the last few weeks, in the garden. Lucy took her first steps at 10mths and walked consistently from 11 months, and has so much fun toddling around barefoot (for the most part) and exploring her ever expanding world.
Our lovely Auntie Ginny made the girls these sweet little pillowcase dresses, after I found a few on a website and fell in love with them. No probs, she said, I can do that. And so she did. I think the girls look absolutely adorable in them and they are perfect in this Aussie weather.
We are approaching winter, would you believe it, and this is what the girls still wear. I'm loving this weather, it's like the perfect English summer day every day - slightly crisp in the very early hours of the morning and sunny and balmy during the day, it's heaven on a stick! We only get a few months of this perfection a year, so I'm planning on making the most of it.
I'm pretty happy right now. The house is almost organized at last, after a year, and now that we have it the way that we want it, it's just the usual ongoing challenge to keep it tidy. Not such an easy task with 9 people living here, but we like to try (or some of us do, heehee).
I mustn't linger though, I have a lasagne to make and the last few hours of the afternoon to enjoy.

And Shes Off!

After dabbling in the walking area for the last few months - Lucy has finally decided that she will take steps unaided. The day before her 11 month milestone, she took 8 steps across the room and has been doing it ever since! She's not amazingly confident yet and sometimes forgets to lift her feet for steps, instead lunging forward to fall into her face, but she's getting there!
Next challange is to get some video footage....

2010

It's a new year, a new decade. Amazing - there was a time as a child when I really wondered if I'd ever reach this year. Sounds crazy I know, I'm not that old but our generation was riddled with fears of nuclear war and 'the end is nigh' I used to lie awake at night trying to decide whether or not I could ever bear to have children, bring them into a world that they may only live in for a few years. Macabre I realise, but these were the thoughts of the 80's child!
So, it's quite ironic really that not only did I live to see us move out of the 'naughties' and into the ...well whatever we're in now, but I did indeed have the children that I wondered about - all 7 of them!!

The Woods got through Christmas pretty uneventfully, (a good thing), and for the most part, we all enjoyed it. We've all been cooped up together for weeks now, a lot of people of all different ages, in one household, and although there have been a couple of hiccups, mostly it's been a lot of fun. Just so nice to chill out and not have the usual hustle and bustle of school runs, work, crazy schedules. The kids still have until the end of Jan to kick back and relax a bit until school begins along with the hard work. Barnaby will be feeling the strain this year - his grades count towards Uni and everything is on the line, this is the year for him to really show us what he's got!

Sadly David is back at work on Monday and I'm dreading it. Its been so nice not worrying about that side of it and I know that the moment he returns, it's going to snowball and he'll be away from us for long periods of time. But, it's only Thursday, I can't think about that now, I'll think about that tomorrow - in the words of Scarlett O'Hara! :)

Here are a few milestones for the Woods over the past few months,
Lucy sat, crawled, stood and balanced alone in what seemed to be no time at all.
Joey lost his first tooth
Lucy grew her first tooth at 8mths
Barns is almost ready to take his driving test
David is off to get the snip in a few weeks :)
We had air con installed, yippee
David and Barns bought a new car
Gabs began working at Pizza Hut
Enrolled Poppy in Kindy
Libby is now online - all the time!!!
So I thought I'd put up a few pictures on here of the last few weeks. And I will sign out for now and wish you all a very Happy New Year!

6 months old today!

My beautiful little Lucy has reached her 6 months milestone in what seems like a blink of an eye! She's a joy and a blessing and seems to get sweeter every day.
I'm in awe at what she can do already, crawling, pulling herself up on the furniture and sitting unaided! She's still extremely clingy with me, but I'm sure that will change as she gets older! Scary how quickly the time flies by, and I'm making the most of each second! Here's to the next 6 months!

Poppy and Lucy

GeoTagged, [S27.56080, W152.86632]

I love watching my girls play together, there is something just so pure and beautiful about it. Poppy is very gentle and nurturing and Lucy looks at her in adoration! I could watch them for hours.

Lovelies

I took some pictures of my beautiful girls today, Here is one of them. People ask me why I while away the hours taking pictures but I think it's because I have such wonderful subjects surrounding me!

What a lady!

Here are a few of the many faces of Miss Poppy Emma 'Princess' Wood, as she insists on being called! She's a little fruitloop as you can see!

Lucy and Em

I thought I'd post a couple of pictures to show the similarities between me and my girl! I was a bit older in mine, and the quality is bad, but you get the idea!

Mastering the Crawl!

She's not yet 6mths old, so we're pretty impressed that she's already reached this milestone, although I can imagine not being quite as impressed after a few weeks of chasing such a young baby around. Time to reinforce the word 'no'! :)
